How to make Easter cards – printable templates

Do you send Easter cards? If so, there is no need to buy them, because you can easily make your own cards. What’s more, you can make Easter cards together with children.

You can choose from 4 patterns of cards, you can do one or all of them. My children really liked the cutting of colorful little rabbits. We have so many of them now that we have to make a garland. It was also fun to make a yarn card.

Squeegee painting Easter cards

I’ve always dreamed to try squeegee painting, and the time has finally come 🙂 Of course, it’s not as easy as they show on Instagram, but after a few tries and getting a feel for the paints, the effects are starting to get better and better.

You will need

  • Card base
  • White card
  • Acrylic paints in tubes
  • Squeegee, piece of plexiglass or a ruler
  • Markers
  • Glue
  • Scissors
Material for Easter Cards

How to make a squeegee painting Easter card

  1. The first step is to cut the white piece cardboard so that it is smaller than the card base
  2. Then I squeeze 5-6 dots of paint at different heights. If you are making bunnies, leave space at the top to paint the ears. However, if you are making chickens, you can start higher.
  3. Hold a white piece of paper at the top (my daughter held mine), place the squeegee or a plexiglass on it and slowly drag the paint down to the end of the paper. The magic happened and rabbit or chicken bodies were created. Now set the paper aside to dry.
  4. Draw ears and faces for the rabbits, and combs, eyes and beaks for the chickens.
  5. Glue the white card onto the base and you’re done 🙂

Easter cards with rainbow bunnies

The first idea is very simple. Download, print and cut out our template. Glue on the card base and make tails with pom poms or crystals.

Easter cards with egg mandalas

This is an idea for relaxation cards 😉 because coloring mandala eggs is brilliantly relaxing 😀 You can also give a monochrome card with an uncolored Easter egg.

Supplies

  • The card’s base
  • Colored paper or tape
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Easter cards with colorful bunnies

The next idea is a charming card with a bunny shape and pom pom tail.

Supplies

  • The card’s base
  • Colored paper or tape
  • White cardboard paper
  • Pompoms
  • Bunny template (template available below)
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instruction

The bunny template should be prepared first. I collected 4 patterns of bunnies in various shapes and sizes: bent ear, baby bunny, pair, simple.

I tried each template to finally decide on a simple bunny in the lower right corner. However, my daughter fell into the frenzy of cutting a little bunny – the single from the pair.

The next steps depend on the material you use to make the color bunny. I still ‘fight’ with color duck tapes, so I had to stick them to the cardboard first. Then, regardless of the material used, cut the bunnies out.

Next, stick the bunnies to the base of the card and add the tail pompoms. I did the other way round, because my daughter could not wait to stick her tails.

Finally, press the bunnies with something heavy to get stuck evenly.

Easter cards with bunnies are ready. Congratulations! 🙂

Easter cards with geometric eggs

The third option is card with Easter eggs decorated with shiny triangles.

Supplies

  • The card base, this time natural and black
  • White and black cardboard paper
  • Egg template (several sizes to download below)
  • Glitter paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instruction

Start with the egg template. I used the template that I prepared for the Easter wreath. This time I used the biggest egg.

Cut the eggs out from cardboard paper. I used a black egg for the natural base, and a white egg for the black one. Prepare triangles in different sizes from the brocade paper, and then apply them on the eggs. You can leave sticking to your child. Here, it doesn’t have to be even, fun is more important. If any of the triangles have gone beyond the egg, cut the protruding fragments.

Then, glue eggs on the base. Mine was a bit too ascetic, so I added the inscription.

Easter cards with geometric Easter eggs are ready. Congratulations!

Easter card with yarn bunny

The frth option is the bunny silhouette made of yarn. Definitely an option for children.

Supplies

  • The card’s base
  • Bunny template
  • Yarn threads in various colors
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instruction

The first step is to prepare the base, I advise you to use regular card base and a separate sheet with bunny silhouette. I tried to combine those and not only I fold askew it but also I made a mistake, and my card opens from the other side.

The prepare the bunny template. I chose the same bunny template as for the first card. Here it is quite important that the pattern is simple, because it is difficult to cut in the middle of the sheet. To work!

Draw the bunny template on the part where you will stick the yarn threads.

Next prepare yarn threads. They should cover the bunny, and do not go out of the card.

In the next step, apply the glue. Taught by experience I suggest doing it in several steps. I covered whole page at once and the glue began to dry and the sheet began to roll.

Now the coolest part, especially for children, i.e. glueing of yarn threads. Pay attention to tightly fill the whole silhouette of the bunny.

Cut the protruding threads.

At the end, cut the bunny silhouette in the additional sheet of paper. Stick it on the card with yarn threads, press with the heavy book and let it dry.

The Easter card with the yarn bunny is ready. Congratulations!

How to make the Easter card base

Supplies for the Easter card base

  • Raw cardboard – can be taken from the cover of cardboard papers
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Technical knife (optional)

Making of the Easter card base

The first step is to measure the size. If, like me, you use the cover, just divide the sheet into half. In addition, at the location of the planned folding, you can gently cut with a technical knife. Then the cardboard paper will be easier to fold in the right place. Finally cut the sheet into halves and fold in the middle.
