A brief instruction on how to make tulle pompoms. I start with small pompoms, although I already dream of a full-sized decoration with large tulle pompoms.
Supplies
- Cardboard
- Tulle (just a short piece – a red pompom was made of 70 x 15cm tulle, and white of 50 x 15cm)
- Thread (about 20 cm long)
- Pencil
- Scissors
Step-by-step instruction
First of all draw and cut 2 identical circles. The size of the pompoms depends on the size of the rings. For example the red pompom is about 4 cm in diameter. It was made on the basis of a circle with a diameter of 7 cm and a thickness of “rim” 2 cm. On the other hand the white pompom is about 2.5 cm in diameter and it was made on the basis of a circle with a diameter of 4.5 cm and a “rim” thickness of approx. 1.2 cm. In conclusion the pompom size depends on the thickness of the “rim”. These are my beginnings with pompoms, after doing more I will know exactly what is the dependence of the size of the circle template to the size of the pompom.
Secondly put a thread on one of the circles and cover with the second circle.
Further wrap joined circles with tulle. Insert the scissors between the circles and cut the tulle. This operation should be done carefully so that the tulle does not “escape”. Immediately after cutting the whole tulle, pull the thread tight and tie the knot. Then the pompom is stable and safe.
After that, take off the cardboard wheels and cut out the outlining tulle pieces. Finally uniformly spread out the tulle and form a nice pompom with your fingers. The tulle pompoms are ready! Congratulations 🙂

Nothing gives more satisfaction than doing something yourself. I haven’t even thought about DIY as my hobby, I’ve just done different “projects” when it was needed. Sometimes it’s a disguise for the Masquerade Party in kindergarten. Another time, cutting out the pumpkin and baking the witch’s fingers for Haloween. Or simply organizing holiday souvenirs. Now I decided to share my realizations with you. Let’s go it together!
