How to make sea glass earrings

We’ve already turned sea glass into framed artwork, decorative wind chimes, and other small decorations. It turns out these treasures, shaped by the sea over the years, offer almost endless creative possibilities. This time, we decided to transform them into something you can wear every day – sea glass stud earrings.

It’s a simple DIY project that doesn’t require any special tools, and every pair is completely unique. After all, no two pieces of sea glass are ever the same. ✨

What you’ll need

🌊 Sea glass – look for pieces with interesting shapes and colors.
📍 Stud earring bases – either surgical stainless steel (more durable and skin-friendly) or plastic ones.
🧪 Clear two-part epoxy adhesive – for a strong and long-lasting bond.

How to make sea glass stud earrings

  1. Choose your sea glass
Pick two pieces that work well together. They don’t have to be identical – sometimes slightly different shapes create the most beautiful pair.
  2. Prepare the surface
Wash the sea glass thoroughly and let it dry completely. If needed, gently clean the area where the stud will be attached so the glue adheres better.
  3. Attach the earring posts
Mix the two-part epoxy according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Apply a small amount to the stud base, press it onto the back of the sea glass, and leave it undisturbed until the adhesive has fully cured.
  4. Enjoy your handmade earrings!
Once the glue has set, your sea glass earrings are ready to wear – a one-of-a-kind accessory and a beautiful reminder of your time by the sea.

What I love most about projects like this is that something many people would walk past on the beach can become a beautiful piece of jewelry. Sometimes all it takes is a little creativity to give an ordinary object a whole new life. 💙

If you collect sea glass during your beach walks, this is a wonderful way to turn those tiny treasures into a lasting keepsake. Every time you wear your earrings, they’ll bring back memories of the sea, the waves, and your summer adventures. 🌊
