Pumpkin lanterns

Pumpkin lanterns not only for Halloween

2020 is a crazy year, when nothing goes as it should. We didn’t manage to curve Halloween pumpkins. That is why we chose completely different patterns and created pumpkin lanterns with polka dots and stars. I have to admit that drilling holes in the pumpkin is a great fun 🙂

Pumpkin preparation

Preparing the lanterns should start by cutting a hole and hollowing out the pumpkin. This time, differently than usual, I cut the bottom of the pumpkin so that the lanterns looked untouched from above. Then I let my kids to empty the pumpkin. Better secure the floor before doing that, cause it gets a bit messy 🙂

Pumpkin with stars

The pumpkin with stars is more associated with Christmas than with Halloween and it is really cute. You have to struggle a bit to break out the star shapes, but it’s worth it.

  1. Choose a place and place the cookie cutter
  2. Insert the cutter into the pumpkin
  3. Check it out from the inside. If it didn’t go right through, hollow out the pumpkin more until the mold passes.

Oriental style pumpkin lanterns

Pumpkin lanterns with dozens of holes look cute and resemble oriental decorations. Drilling in a pumpkin is very easy and fun. I even managed to change the drill bit 🙂

I made two dotted patterns, i.e. vertical and horizontal dotted lines.
