During the summer our enthusiasm for arranging Hama beads faded a bit, but we found a new use for them. Initially, I made one Hama bead and tassel necklace to try out how it will look like. It quickly turned out that it was taking and all the girls eagerly started make their own necklaces 😁

How to make the Hama bead and tassel necklace?
I think it would be easiest to thread the beads on the needle. Unfortunately the only one I had was too small for the mouline thread and I couldn’t thread it 🤨
I came up with an alternative solution, which was to pull the end of the thread with all purpose glue. Thanks to this, after the glue dries, the mouline end becomes stiff and easy to thread beads. It is also a safer version for kids who do not need to operate with a needle.
Apply a little glue to the end of the thread, about 4 cm long. Once dry, the tip will become stiff and easy to thread beads.

Then the most tedious, but at the same time easy activity, i.e. threading beads along the entire length of the thread. This is an ideal activity for children to practice fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and patience. Small hands made it really fast 😉

When the size of the necklace is right and it easily passes through the head, finish by tying a solid knot.

The final step is to attach the mouline tassel. I tried several options for tying. To the mouline thread, to the bead and using the ends of the mouline from the necklace. The last option seems to be the best option, i.e. using excess threads from tying the necklace. Instructions on how to make a tassel you can be found below 🙂
How to make the mouline tassel?
Making a tassel is a very simple matter. It is enough to wind the thread on your fingers. Then tie it through the loops and second time close to the end to form a nice head. The threads should be combed with a hair brush to make the tassel look more effective.

Nothing gives more satisfaction than doing something yourself. I haven’t even thought about DIY as my hobby, I’ve just done different “projects” when it was needed. Sometimes it’s a disguise for the Masquerade Party in kindergarten. Another time, cutting out the pumpkin and baking the witch’s fingers for Haloween. Or simply organizing holiday souvenirs. Now I decided to share my realizations with you. Let’s go it together!
