A white and red wooden rosette is our proposal to celebrate the upcoming Independence Day 🤍❤️. The idea is simple, and the result is brilliant. We paint our flag on a piece of wood and decorate it with white and red ribbons at the bottom.
Polska wersja: Biało-czerwony kotylion z drewna
Materials needed:
- Wooden slices – I used plywood circles, but you can also use raw birch slices.
- Drill – to make holes for hanging the circle and the ribbon tail
- Sandpaper – to smooth the surface after drilling and remove any splinters
- Paints – can be poster paints or acrylic paints
- Brush
- Ribbons, strings, or floss – to make the dreamcatcher’s tail
How to make a wooden rosette
The first step is to drill holes – one on the top and several at the bottom. It’s a good idea to smooth out the areas after drilling with sandpaper to remove any splinters.
The next step is to paint the flag on the wood. Polish flag is white and red.
The last step is to make a decorative tail. For this, you can use ribbons, strings, or floss. You can install one or several threads in one hole.

Nothing gives more satisfaction than doing something yourself. I haven’t even thought about DIY as my hobby, I’ve just done different “projects” when it was needed. Sometimes it’s a disguise for the Masquerade Party in kindergarten. Another time, cutting out the pumpkin and baking the witch’s fingers for Haloween. Or simply organizing holiday souvenirs. Now I decided to share my realizations with you. Let’s go it together!
