We are in the carnival season, so I started to make new costumes for my girls. This time I came up with an idea for a squirrel tutu costume. I have to admit I took the easy way. I took the pumpkin tutu costume, made some changes and supplemented it with ready-made accessories.

Components of the squirrel tutu costume
The squirrel costume consists of the following elements:
- Tutu skirt – you can find detailed instructions on how to make a tutu skirt in the post here.
- Orange t-shirt – in the case of the squirrel outfit, you don’t have to combine anything with the t-shirt 🙂
- Headband with ears and squirrel tail – ready items bought in the online store
Supplies for squirrel tutu costume
- Tulle in rolls 6″ wide x 25 yards long. The number of rolls depends on the size of the skirt, for small children (2-3 years) 4 rolls are enough, for older ones (4-5 years) 5 rolls should do.
- About 20’’ elastic band, 0,5’’ wide
- Scissors
- Orange T-shirt
- Headband with ears and squirrel tail – ready items bought in the online store
- Face paints – I’m using Snazaroo paints set, because they have an attractive price and come with a booklet with instructions on how to paint many different patterns.

Face painting squirrel
The element crowning the work is the painted face which gives charm to the whole disguise. Face painting is a lot easier than it sounds, so it’s worth a try. As I mentioned at the beginning, for several years I have been using sets from Snazaroo which come with an instruction booklet on how to paint many different patterns.

Nothing gives more satisfaction than doing something yourself. I haven’t even thought about DIY as my hobby, I’ve just done different “projects” when it was needed. Sometimes it’s a disguise for the Masquerade Party in kindergarten. Another time, cutting out the pumpkin and baking the witch’s fingers for Haloween. Or simply organizing holiday souvenirs. Now I decided to share my realizations with you. Let’s go it together!
